Wilson Solicitors are pleased to announce that from December 2024 Jed Pennington and Nusrat Uddin will become joint heads of our Public Law & Human Rights department. Jed and Nusrat are accomplished lawyers who are hugely respected in the field.
Jed has developed particular expertise in judicial reviews and civil actions on behalf of people who experience unlawful treatment in the immigration system. His recent work includes acting in challenges to the policy of relocating people seeking asylum to Rwanda, and a judicial review and civil actions relating to conditions at the Manston detention facility in 2022.
Nusrat specialises in modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking cases. She is leading the firm's Business and Human Rights work, building a niche in holding the government to account for modern slavery in its own purchase contracts and the supply chain. She has brought a number of ground-breaking challenges, including the Supreme Court case Wong v Basfar which overturned diplomatic immunity in trafficking civil claims.
These appointments come at an exciting time for the firm’s Public & Human Rights department. The firm’s Administrative and Public Law work was recognised in the Times Best Law Firms 2025. The department is also ranked for both its Administrative & Public Law and Civil Liberties & Human Rights work in the 2025 editions of Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.
The firm is currently recruiting for 3+ years PQE solicitors in the Public Law & Human Rights department. If you are interested in the roles, we would be happy to have an informal discussion with you.
The firm is hugely grateful to Katy Robinson, who will leave the firm at the end of the year after 14 years, and Nina Rathbone-Pullen, who left the firm in October after 16 years. Katy and Nina were joint heads of department in 2023-2024 and partners since 2018.
