On 16 July 2019 Helen MacIntyre and Jennine Walker of our public law department joined forces with Graham Denholm of Landmark Chambers to deliver training for the Immigration Law Practitioners Association entitled ‘Challenging Immigration Detention: a Comprehensive Toolkit’. Attendees from law firms, barristers’ chambers and NGOs enjoyed a day of training and interactive sessions on topics including the Hardial Singh Principles, Home Office detention policies, bail, the detention of unaccompanied children and separated family members and damages for unlawful detention. The aim of the training was to arm attendees with the legal means and practical tools they need to challenge immigration detention. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day.
