Wilsons are proud to welcome Jed Pennington back to Wilsons as an Associate Solicitor in the Public Law Department.
Jed was a trainee solicitor with us many years ago before embarking on a formidable career elsewhere.
Jed is now a recognized leader in his field of public law and human rights having worked for many years at Bhatt Murphy where he became a partner. After a period at Islington Law Centre he is returning to his roots with us in Tottenham. Jed has particular expertise in immigration detention claims and played a leading role in ILPA (Immigration Law Practitioners Association) as co-convener of its detention committee.
He is ranked in Chambers as a leader in his field and as a rising star in the Legal 500.
Chambers says of Jed;
Adept at handling challenges to immigration detention, Jed Pennington is also experienced in handling cases involving those who have died in custody. “He has an extraordinary knowledge of the law.”
Jed Pennington is well known for acting on behalf of individuals and NGOs on judicial review proceedings concerning immigration detention, inquests for bereaved families and Dublin III Regulation matters. A commentator says: “He is a very technical lawyer and has an extraordinary knowledge of the law.”
Looking back on his first month back at Wilson’s Jed said
“I’m thrilled to be back at Wilsons. Everyone has been very welcoming and I’m really excited to be working with such a fantastic, talented group of people. I look forward to contributing to the work of the public law team in giving marginalised communities a voice and holding state authorities to account, and to helping the firm to continue its mission of seeking to achieve justice for all.”
Our head of Public Law James Elliott said ‘It has been great to have Jed return to the place he trained. He is one of the most innovative and committed lawyers of his generation. I am so pleased our clients will have another brilliant lawyer on their side’
