Our Sarah Colley was invited to attend the Supreme Court last month for the launch of Jewish Family Life and Customs: A Practical Guide recently for a reception to launch new research on how divorce law works in practice. The launch was hosted by the Board of Deputies of British Jews with the President of the Supreme Court Lady Hale of Richmond giving a speech in support of the guide. Members of the audience included representatives from the Law Society and other family law solicitors. Other speakers at the launch included Eleanor Platt QC, chairman of the Board of Deputies’ Family Law Group and a co-editor of the guide; President Jonathan Arkush and Vice President Marie van der Zyl. The guide is intended to assist legal professionals to gain an understanding of the requirements for practising Jews. It covers a wide variety of topics including marriage, divorce, and the observation of religious festivals. The guide is online and can be accessed here.
