On 4 June 2020 I am due to hold a free talk on UK Immigration Law at Radisson Blue in Sandton, Johannesburg. The plan was to hold a similar event in Durban the following week, a few days before running the Comrades Marathon on 14 June 2020. I intended to publicize this event a couple of weeks ago but held off any announcements due to the COVID-19 crisis that was unfolding all over the world. The catastrophic magnitude of this pandemic is unprecedented. Nobody really saw this coming. It feels like normality has been put on hold.Neither the Comrades nor my talk have yet been cancelled. British Airways has not cancelled my flight although it is uncertain whether UK citizens would be physically allowed into South Africa any time soon. Right now we are not. Although I am still hoping to make it to South Africa as planned, very sadly, this appears less and less likely with every passing day.A 21-day lockdown starts today in South Africa. In the circumstances – and in case I cannot travel - I have decided to offer free 20-minute consultations by Skype, WhatsApp or phone for the duration of this lockdown. This would be an opportunity for those considering relocation to the UK to have a brief discussion about their options and the realistic costs of any applications. If you are interested, please e-mail Ana at a.gonzalez@wilsonllp.co.uk to schedule a call.Do keep safe.
