On 11 August 2018 at Victoria Park, a team from Wilsons took part in the Pride Run 10k to raise money for the excellent Micro Rainbow International. The team of Imogen Townley, Adam Spray, Tim Davies, Kabir Joshi, Emma Terenius, Lindsay Cundall, Sam Mason and Harry Clayton were joined by friends and supporters from Micro Rainbow and were rewarded afterwards with a sumptuous picnic lunch.
The runners raised £285 in sponsorship, which was match-funded by the firm to give a total donation of £570 to Micro Rainbow. We look forward to supporting Micro Rainbow again next year.Below is some information about Micro Rainbow International: Micro Rainbow International's new project tackles homelessness within the LGBTI refugee community. In November 2017 MRI has opened the first house in the UK to provide them with safe, temporary accommodation. Since opening, MRI has housed LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees from Bangladesh, El Salvador, Malaysia, Jamaica, Kenya and Kosovo.
And the work continues… In July 2018, MRI opened two new safe houses in Birmingham to house LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees in the area. With 10 new allies donating £5, £10, or £20 per month, MRI will provide LGBTI refugees with employability training, life coaching and self-employment support whilst they live in safe accommodation, where they do not risk being abused. If you need an extra incentive to give your sponsorship, please read this article showing how our support enables social inclusion and empowerment of LGBTI refugees and asylum seekersAgain, thank you for your continued support for this great cause. Together we can put an end to LGBTI refugee homelessness.
