On Monday 17th February, representatives from Wilsons were invited by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to speak on a panel to local aspiring lawyers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This special event, taking place during half-term, was part of the Foundation’s Level Up Network, which provides career mentoring for ages 16-24 delivered through the Mayor of London's New Deal for Young People. In addition to our Daniel Merriman, Niki Hadjivasiliou, Shahailya Stephenson, Sophia Poliviou-Singh and Suhanya Jeyashiri, lawyers were present from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Slaughter and May and 3M.
Sophia said of the event:
It was an honour to be invited to join a panel of legal professionals dedicated to inspiring young lawyers and to witness passion and drive in young people considering a career in law. Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is a truly commendable organisation and its commitment to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals is so amazing to see. They’ve created an accessible platform that empowers future legal minds in what has become a challenging career path to pursue, and great opportunities for students. Taking part in this event really did feel like a breath of fresh air, and also an opportunity for us to stop and actually reflect on how far we have come in our own careers!
Niki and Suhanya, who particularly enjoyed the pre-panel tour of the stadium, added:
Visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was an unforgettable experience. Getting a behind the scenes look at such an incredible venue, standing pitch side, and exploring areas usually off limits to the public was a real thrill.
After the tour, we had the privilege of watching our Wilsons lawyers take the stage, sharing their career journeys, the challenges they’ve tackled, and the impact they’ve made in their fields. It was inspiring to see a room full of future lawyers completely captivated and hanging onto every word. The energy in the room carried into the networking session afterward, where it was clear just how much the young attendees saw themselves in our speakers and the opportunities a career at Wilsons could offer. It was very heart warming.
It was a pleasure working with the Foundation, and plans are in place to continue mentoring relationships arising from the event.
