We are pleased to announce that Sophia was admitted as a solicitor on the 1st July 2020 and she will now join our solicitor team in the family law department. Congratulations to Sophia on reaching this milestone in her career.
Sophia studied Law at the University of Kent, graduating with a 2:1 in 2015. Sophia later completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in London, graduating in July 2016.
Sophia joined Wilsons in 2016 initially as a caseworker and then as a trainee solicitor.
Sophia has experience in a broad range of Family Law issues including: Private Law Children matters such as contact and residence disputes, Public Law Children matters such as child protection and care proceedings issued by the Local Authority, Divorce and Financial Remedy disputes, International Family Law including Child Abduction and Wardship proceedings, and Domestic Violence and Injunction matters.
She enjoys Children Act work, especially representing parents in care proceedings. Sophia also has a particular interest in High Court work and representing clients in complex cases involving the use of the Court’s inherent jurisdiction through Non-Hague child abduction matters.
Sophia has developed extensive experience in working for both legally aided and private clients. Sophia also advises and attends with clients at Child Protection Conferences and Public Law Outline meetings.
Sophia has experience in advocacy which includes representation at Court to obtain urgent protective Orders such as Injunctions and in disputes regarding child contact and residence.
Sophia also has experience in our Public Law department where she worked on a broad range of Public Law matters including Judicial Reviews against Public Bodies, Immigration Unlawful Detention claims, Actions against the Police and Community Care cases.
Prior to joining Wilsons, Sophia volunteered as a caseworker at The Bar Pro Bono Unit in Central London, reviewing and allocating cases in all areas of law to Barristers across England and Wales. Sophia has a commitment to ensuring access to justice particularly for vulnerable clients.
