Wilsons thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the legal aid lawyer of the year (LALY) awards ceremony this week. Congratulations to the winners and all the runners up, including our very own Katy, Mark and Marcela. The award ceremony was an evening in which the work that legal aid lawyers carry out on behalf of vulnerable, disadvantaged and impoverished clients is rightly celebrated. Without this dedicated work there would be no access to justice for the poor and the voiceless. Legal aid has been severely cut in the last eight years and we have felt the full force of the government’s discredited austerity policy. Legal aid lawyers fight to deliver services and representation with diminishing resources. As throughout the public sector it is the clients who are least able to cope, that suffer the most. Wilsons are proud to play our part in delivering excellent legal representation to our marginalised and vulnerable clients. We also send a massive thank you to LAPG for organising such a brilliant evening.
