We have particular expertise in assisting clients to obtain support from social services where they have ongoing immigration issues and/or are unable to access mainstream housing and benefits because of their immigration status.
We can advise you on approaching social services for care and support if you need help carrying out daily activities or taking care of yourself, or if you are caring for someone who does. We can also advise you on social services’ duties towards you if you are a care leaver or if you are a child seeking asylum alone in the UK, including if your age has been disputed. We can advise you if you are a family with children who need accommodation but you are not able to access mainstream housing.
We can assist you by making a request to social services for an assessment and support in any of the above circumstances. We can also assist you to obtain a re-assessment if there has been a change in your situation or new evidence is available. We can advise you on the assessment process, and on any evidence you may need to obtain, and make written representations on your behalf where needed.
We can represent you in Judicial Review challenges relating to any of the above situations, including a failure to assess, delays, and challenges to the outcome of an assessment. We can make urgent court applications where needed to ensure you get the accommodation and support you need as soon as possible.
